About

Hi, I’m Blake. I’m an actor and producer working in Adelaide, South Australia.

But it took a while to get there. If you’re interested in learning a little bit more about me then please read on.

In 2015 I had what many would call a quarter life crisis, If you’d like to read more about that you can head to my blog. So at the end of 2015 I gave my notice at work and auditioned for the Flinders Drama Centre course and was accepted into their 2016 intake.

Thus begun a very long 4 years studying at Flinders with my 12 class mates (soon to be 7, then 8 at the end). Since graduating I’ve appeared on screen in Lucid Dreaming, Freezing Point, Rules to being a Fuckgurl and more. On stage I’ve worked extensively with ActNow Theatre, specifically in Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed creating works that aim to challenge racism and discrimination in our society for high schools and workplaces.

What Else do I do?

Apart from acting, I have a range of skills.

I don’t really consider myself a Jack-of-all-trades, but I have been frequently described as one, I have a general desire to learn and master skills, and adapt what I’ve previously learnt into new applications. I was the Stage Manager for various shows while studying, both at the university and in the Adelaide Fringe. I did the lighting and sound design and choreographed the operation (by myself and my fellow actors) for our 3rd year production of The Good Person Of Setzuan.

Professionally I’ve managed large scale events for the University of Adelaide, was the Manager of the 2020 season of RUMPUS Theatre and I have been an Associate Artist, Digital Innovator, Program Coordinator, and Business and Operations Coordinator for ActNow Theatre, where I am currently working as the General Manager. While working there I have produced a national tour, several regional tours, shows for DreamBig festival, film production, ect.

I’m incredibly passionate about artists rights and have been an active member of the union (The MEAA) since 2017 when I was a second year student, I’ve been actively involved in the SA equity branch, setting up the Equity Emerging SA group and hosting South Australia’s first Graduates Day in 2020. I’ve regularly attended meetings of the National Performers Committee as an alternate or an advisor for South Australian issues.

I’m also the Chairperson and one of the founding members of The Performers Support Fund of South Australia, a charity dedicated to supporting members of the South Australian arts industry in times of need.

Anything Else?

I’m also a cat dad to a very intelligent little cat named Bailey, she’s a two year old tuxedo cat with a big personality, if you’re ever in a video call with me you’re bound to meet her at some point, or you can click here and see some of my favourite photos of her!
